Timers that make low impact farms are great :D I like automatic farms so I can set and forget, but I also don't like that automatic farms are pretty much always running. Slow activation cycles, like a block dropper timer or this cute cactus timer are great. I also hate how you have to make an industrial complex just to make villager stuff practical. I need more conveyor belts and inserters.

Too bad, it is still not big enough to have a positive outcome the number of kelp blocks i have i use to smelt the kelps to make blocks from, it's a real bummer, also what i noticed is that a lot of kelp doesn't float to the top but just sits there and despawns.

I am now going to ad 9 more units this weekend, that is 270 kelp plants that should yield me a positive result in kelp blocks

You might not have turned the water blocks into source blocks. My tanks are 21 blocks tall, and I just added water from the top, but that made some of the items move down instead of up. But planting kelp all the way to the top by hand, makes all the water blocks into source block, and that made everything float to the top. My only problem is fish spawning in the tank, and the occasional drowned, but other than that, it works perfect.

I was wondering what the return ratio was - it’s like plug-in electric cars, you have to burn coal to make the electricity...so what’s the net balance? Don’t get me wrong - I drive a Prius - but there is a ratio. Let me know if 270 plants yields positive results because I’d like to try the same thing.

I have 84 plants, and I get about a chestful of kelp per ~1,5 hours. I use 48 blocks (432 pieces) of kelp to burn 960 kelp, that turn into 106 blocks of kelp. So from 48 I get 106, a yield of 58 blocks each burn cycle.

But I have a 48 oven array to burn this. If I had a 2 oven auto system, I wouldn't bother with kelp, and just burn coal and wood.
