I hope changing the host for the pictures changes everyone's viewablity. I'm sorry for the repost of topic as I couldn't seem to edit the last one...
As some of you may know, I'm a very busy percussionist, and this past weekend was certainly an event to remember. I'm a part of a civil war brass band, and I'm their "little" drummer boy. And so for Labor Day Weekend, we went out to Huntington Beach to participate in their Civil War Days.
For any of these events, I have to get up at the crack of dawn, but it certainly was a beautiful morning! Had the coolest combination of overcast and thick, thick fog against the mountains!
I meetup with the rest of the band at one of their houses, and we carpool there together in a couple of cars to the park it's in. Once there, It's always neat stepping into the camps. They are so well setup you really feel like you've stepped back in time! I'd love to have a tent of my own and sleepover at these events! I wish I took more pictures of the camps :/
For this reenactment, my band is playing Confederate, and go as "The Band of the Richmond Howitzers." Yes, there are cannons at these events, and damn, do they pack a punch!
After playing some tunes in the Confederate camp, it is time to get ready for the day's first battle!
As a reenactor, it's hard to sneak pictures in of the battles as they do not like to see tech out on the field. But as a band member, sometimes we are positioned far enough from the audience to sneak in some pics. Unfortunately, the band stuck close to the audience the first battle, and then my phone ran out of batteries :/ But, during the first battle, then band had it's own battle to fight: There was a Union band out on the field that day. And, back in the Civil War, it was customary for bands to try and out play eachother while still providing good vibes to keep the morale of the troops up. So, to say, we had a Ye Olde Battle of de Bands! XD They would play a song, awe would play one, they would play one we had in our books, and then echo the same tune in our own arangement. Certainly was a first that we got to do that!
Since I was able to get more pics, and video of the second day, I will put some of the second day's videos Here to keep things exciting, haha.

Here is a picture of the band taken by a stranger with the director's camera, haha. I'm the young feller in the middle.
After the day had gone by, we found a really unique place in the city called Huntington Ramen. Now, I've never had real ramen soup before, so, my first thought was they were going to be serving Top Ramen Noodles at an expensive price, haha. But, the quality of the sushi and noodles ere outstanding! I will certainly go to another ramen restaurant again next chance I get!
I decide to spend the night at the member's house we met at this morning to spare me a repeat of this morning (Waking up at 5:30, leaving 6:20 to get there 6:50 o.0) and get an extra hour of sleep, haha.
Sunday morning comes quick, and we get to the reenactment a bit earlier to play some Hymns in the Confederate camp.
Enjoy our arrangement of Amazing Grace

And once again, it is time to go fight those darn Yankees! And while we were enjoying our Moonshine and morning Hymns, they snuck up and tried trapping us in our own camp!

Once the reenactment was over, the band changed out of those heavy uniforms and headed over to the Orange International Festival for good beer and food! Overall, it was a neat event, but, holy cow was it crowded. Certainly one of those festivals you should experience only once XD
Overall, the weekend was amazing, I love doing these events and always go to sleep (sweet sleep) with a big smile on my face, haha.
Hope you enjoyed this trip report! If yo guys want, I do these often and can post more
