Season 5 Grand Opening
will be on

To accomplish all of this, the server will be taken offline at some point on Saturday, so be sure to finish moving things up by Friday! There are always unforeseeable issues that have to be dealt with during this type of transition, so please be patient. We will be doing all we can to get the server back up ASAP.
Every world and feature that HangOut has costs money and takes time to maintain. We are able to keep Vanilla because we are moving to a new, less expensive, server. To make sure that we have enough money to cover expenses and set-up that can be realistically maintained by the new staff, there will be a couple of things that HangOut will no longer have:
- Live Map (dynmap)
- Creative Flat World
The plan is for Season 5 to be a short season and that Season 6 will start after the 1.18 update at the end of this year. Season 5 is going to be much more bare bones:
- Smaller map
- There are no directional TP’s
- No XP showers
- No end portal at spawn
- Hard Mode
- No separate mining world
- No Live map
- No Starter kits
We have not done a lot with spawn. The idea is to let you, the HangOut members, help shape the spawn area.
There is a spawn house, which has:
- Mail boxes
- Nether portal
- Portal to hub between worlds
- Enchanting room
- Couple of bedrooms
- NEW: Basic rules in game
There is a ravine right below the spawn house which we think will make an interesting take on the shopping mall. Other than a few paths to get things started, we have left it the way it spawned. You can dig into the wall anywhere to build your shop, add paths and stairs to get there. We ask that you be respectful of others building around you and not start a shop unless you are ready to finish it in a timely manner.
There is also plenty of room at spawn to build stand-alone shops and homes. Again, we have done very little “improving” of the village at spawn, and encourage you to help shape our spawn town.
All stores should have a sign showing who the owner(s) of the store is. We also ask you to mark homes and stores (not stores in the ravine mall) with a banner. To do this:
- Acquire a banner in the color of your choice.
- Re-name the banner with the name of your store or player name.
- Place the banner at your store or home. It does not have to be visible.
- Ask a staff member to add your banner to the hub map.
- The location of your build will then show up on the map.
Avoid large amounts of entities (animals, mobs, item frames, minecarts, chests, etc.) at spawn. The spawn area is always loaded in the game memory, too many entities there will have a detrimental effect on everyone’s experience.
No Separate Mining World
Yes, you read that right. There will be no separate mining world in Season 5. This means you need to be respectful of the terrain and your fellow HangOuters when gathering resources. Replant trees, leave the mesas and desert looking respectable, keep your underground mining under the area of your base. Trade with people who live in the mesa and desert for terracotta and sand!
Bases
As always, please do not claim land that you do not plan to use in the near future. Yes, you can have large scale farms at your base, but be respectful of your neighbors and try to make them look nice. If planning a large build, mark out the area you plan to use, so others can have an idea of how much space you will need.
We will not have the Live Map (dynmap) to mark claims on, but please still post a sign at your base letting us know whose it is. We also encourage you to use a banner, which will show up on in-game maps, to mark your base. Maybe if you are near others you could start a village and have your own maps similar to Spawn.
